Christmas Family Fun

One of my favorite family Christmas activities over the years has been driving around to see light displays.  When the kids were little we set Christmas Eve aside for that. Sometimes we would stop for hot chocolate or ice cream, then we would head home to open one gift. Of course every year it was the ‘gift’, you know the one…the new pajamas!

The last few years Keith and I have looked at lights alone…the kids are grown and celebrating with their families now.  We always enjoy it, but I decided this year we need to make some new traditions for the 2 of us.

I googled OKC 2014 Christmas family fun to see if I could find something new for this year. I was surprised at how much I found.  Looks like we have a lot to choose from.

Here is a list of places to go and things to do…we are going to do as much as we can…make some great 2014 memories.

Check these out and let me know if you have something I missed.

Downtown OKC has a lot to offer…lights, tubing, ice skating, etc.  I am looking forward to going downtown.

Chickasha’s lights are always a hit with us…has a bit of romance about it.

Of course, we typically drive by Chesapeake’s lights as well…

I also found a list of families who have great light displays.  I don’t think we have ever visited any of these neighborhoods.  I wonder if I could ever get Keith to do something this big…to draw a crowd…yeah, probably not!

Here is a list of family activities for the kids…some are free….I like free!

After checking out the previous link I decided to type in FREE family activities and this is what I found…some are repeats from above, but there are some that haven’t been mentioned.

I hope you find something to do this season that is new and different.

Make some new traditions and create lasting memories this year.

Merry Christmas!

Thank you!

With our anniversary right around the corner I am feeling a little nostalgic, which is making me a little emotional…I know you’re not surprised! (hang on while I grab a tissue)

I’ve been thinking back over these last 30 years and all the people God has put in our lives.  People who have sewn into who we are today, in our relationship with God, our children, our grandchildren, and each other.  Friends & family as far away as Alaska, Florida and New England and as close as Oklahoma.

Keith’s Coast Guard career allowed us to live in a lot of different places. We have so many memories from each of our duty stations, life long friends, moments of growth and lots of laughs.

So, today I want to say Thank You!

Thank you to all of you, friends and family, who have believed in us,
loved us, counseled us, been examples for us, taught us,
laughed with us, cried with us, walked through our storms
and our triumphs, celebrated with us, but most of all, you loved us.
So much of who we are today as individuals and
spouses is because you lived life with us.

Thank you all for the encouragement and
love you have poured over us these last 30 years.

We love you all!

Stick around, there’s another 30 or more ahead of us and we still need you!

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Keeping up with the Joneses

It happened…the day finally arrived… the Chandlers and the Joneses came together this weekend to celebrate the marriage of Michele and Jared and the union of two families into one.

A years worth of planning came together and we watched as they celebrated their love for each other and their children.  The chosen vows were from Ruth 1:16 “Don’t ask me to leave you and turn back. Wherever you go, I will go; wherever you live, I will live. Your people will be my people, and your God will be my God.” They exchanged rings and a kiss and with their children, they poured 6 colors of sand into a jar to represent the blending of their two families into one unit.

The bride was beautiful in her vintage dress and hair and her Captain America shoes were a fun addition!

The groom proudly wore his Army uniform.  He stood tall and proud as he watched his beautiful bride walk the aisle towards him.

Nothing makes this woman’s  heart more happy than to watch her decked out Coast Guard husband salute the man who has vowed to love their daughter forever.

It was a beautiful day………only God could keep the winds calm in OK and have the sunshine in mid July and it only be 84 degrees. Big shout out to God!

We want to thank everyone who came to stand with them as they walk into this new journey of their lives.

They look forward to all God has planned for them.

Pictures will follow soon….but, while you wait, enjoy this one from our Instabus fun photos.  By the way, check them out, they make any occasion tons of fun!

Thanks for stopping by!

P.S.I am so happy to be back to blogging…watch for updates and improvements…it’s gonna be awesome!

Going to the chapel..

Yesterday our son, Matt and his beautiful wife, Christy celebrated 9 years of marriage. I can’t believe that much time has past!
It was a beautiful ceremony in Stubblefield Chapel on the grounds of OBU where Christy was attending college.  What a gorgeous old chapel, with tons of character in the old pews, the pipe organ and the stained glass windows. There was also no air conditioning and it was mid June! However,   I don’t remember that being too much of an issue except when the Mom’s and sisters were gathered in the brides room.  Lots of warmth in there , from the heart and the heat!
Such sweet memories of their wedding day, but even sweeter memories over these last 9 years as we have watched them build their life together.

It was a beautiful day of memory making with family and friends.

Here we are 9 years later and they have grown into a family of 4. It’s been wonderful watching them grow into this little family. Seems like only yesterday Matt was a little boy and here he is a Husband and Father.  Makes my heart smile when I think about the life they are building, their humble beginning and all that is in ahead for them.

Their journey has only begun and the best is yet to come!
Happy Anniversary Matt & Christy!

We love you both so much!

Friday Fav

My Friday Fav this week is this little book, Capture His Heart, by Lysa TerKeurst.  There is a wealth of information in that little book and it has helped me understand Keith’s needs and desires. I picked it up this week to ‘refresh my memory’. It relit the fire in our marriage once before. So why not read again, right?  😉

It is a well read and colorfully underlined book.  It is amazing how much information and truth is in there.

I would have to say that the theme throughout the book is how important it is for me to have a right and solid relationship with God.  I had to be in right relationship with Him in order to grow my relationship with Keith.

Oh, I could tell you all about it…but, I think you should grab it and read it for yourself.

Happy Saturday’s eve!
