Sun or Son

Recently I got up in somewhat of a fog…it had a little to do with allergy meds and a lot to do with the amount of things that the day ahead held for me.  I wanted to climb back in bed and pull the covers over my head….but I didn’t.

Instead I fixed a cup of coffee, grabbed my IPad and curled up on the couch. While I caught up on everyone on Facebook and checked photos on Instagram, the foggy feeling started feeling a little like sadness..woe is me.  So, I opened up YouVersion and started looking around for a ‘word’ to pick me up.  I love God’s word…and of course there was plenty of scriptures to lift my spirits. It didn’t change all that my day held, but it changed my heart and attitude in dealing with it all.

As I headed off to work, I realized it was foggy outside. I laughed a little, thinking about my fogginess earlier in the morning, thought God had a little bit of a sense of humor, switched on my fog lights and headed out.

A few minutes into my drive I saw the sun was trying to ‘burn’ through the fog. Call me crazy (I sometimes am) but the first thing I thought of was….just like the sun can ‘burn’ through the morning fog….the Son can ‘burn’ through our fog!

Simple, but true!

He certainly burned through mine that morning….

Happy Monday!

I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13 NLT

PS That is a picture I took that morning. 🙂

Behind the Scenes

Keith and I have had several conversations lately about the future. We know that God still has great plans for us and we want to be sure that we are doing all He has called us to do.  We have committed it all to prayer and know that God will give us the direction and answers that we seek.

His purpose and plan…not ours.
If there is one thing we have learned over the last few years it is that change happens. Sometimes it may sting for a while, but He has something better in that change.

My biggest  problem is that I am not much about waiting…but I have learned that in the waiting God is working. Quite often I need to be reminded though.

This morning I opened my email to read First Things First with Christine Caine

I love my early morning quiet time with God.  I love that He speaks to me and gives peace to my anxious heart!

“Before they call I will answer; while they are still speaking I will hear”
(Isaiah 65:24).
Maybe you feel you have prayed and prayed and yet the
heavens are like brass. Perhaps you feel that God is ignoring you,
that He hasn’t heard your prayer.

NO, God is not ignoring you! He never ignores His children.
The fact is, we have no idea what God is
doing on our behalf in the heavenlies.

Think of it like this: we may ask God for one thing, but He has to
rearrange ten thousand other things in order for our
one thing to come to pass.

God is working on your behalf behind the scenes.
Your answer is on its way!

The words that stuck out to me the most are ‘God is working on my behalf behind the scenes’. When I am waiting and wondering “when, God, when”, He is working…on MY behalf.
Did I know that already? Yes, I did.  However, God knew I needed that reminder today.
Peace for my anxious heart!

It’s Oh-fish-al….

I am a dot com!  **insert cheering**

I realize that it’s probably not a big deal to most of you because technically this is so 1990! However to me…it’s one step closer to what God has planned for me. You see, while I may have started this blog back in 2007, at that time it was because it was a fad and a trend. Now, God has a purpose and a plan for my blog and I know He is going to use this page for His glory.

My prayer is for God to ‘exceed my imagination’.

Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.
Ephesians 3:20
So, I hope you will stop by often and watch as God’s plan unfolds.  I don’t know exactly what that is, but I know He has one!  I am excited to be walking in it and even more excited to see what tomorrow holds.

Giving Him all the Glory!

P. S. Thanks to my son Matt, who made the dot com official. I am a little a lot challenged in the area of technology and all that goes with it, but I’m learning. He is our computer genius…this was nothing for him to do! But, a huge thanks to him for taking me to the next level!

Keeping up with the Joneses

It happened…the day finally arrived… the Chandlers and the Joneses came together this weekend to celebrate the marriage of Michele and Jared and the union of two families into one.

A years worth of planning came together and we watched as they celebrated their love for each other and their children.  The chosen vows were from Ruth 1:16 “Don’t ask me to leave you and turn back. Wherever you go, I will go; wherever you live, I will live. Your people will be my people, and your God will be my God.” They exchanged rings and a kiss and with their children, they poured 6 colors of sand into a jar to represent the blending of their two families into one unit.

The bride was beautiful in her vintage dress and hair and her Captain America shoes were a fun addition!

The groom proudly wore his Army uniform.  He stood tall and proud as he watched his beautiful bride walk the aisle towards him.

Nothing makes this woman’s  heart more happy than to watch her decked out Coast Guard husband salute the man who has vowed to love their daughter forever.

It was a beautiful day………only God could keep the winds calm in OK and have the sunshine in mid July and it only be 84 degrees. Big shout out to God!

We want to thank everyone who came to stand with them as they walk into this new journey of their lives.

They look forward to all God has planned for them.

Pictures will follow soon….but, while you wait, enjoy this one from our Instabus fun photos.  By the way, check them out, they make any occasion tons of fun!

Thanks for stopping by!

P.S.I am so happy to be back to blogging…watch for updates and improvements…it’s gonna be awesome!

Let it Go

You are probably singing the Disney version, but I want to talk about the God version.

Let it go….give God control of the out-of-control situations in your life.

In my own life things got out of control and instead of trusting God to take care of ‘it’, I took control. Whoa, talk about things getting out of control! Things went from bad to worse and I was blaming God for it. But, He was doing just exactly what I gave him the ability to do…waiting in the wings and watching me try to handle it on my own.

He’s not a forceful god, but a loving Father who wants us to realize that He has the best intentions for us.  He loves us enough to take care of all the ‘stuff’ that comes our way.  All He asks is that we love and trust him. Allow Him to be ‘control central’ in our lives.

Our power comes when we wave the little white flag and say ‘God, I surrender all to you’.  Surrendering to God isn’t a sign of weakness, but a sign of strength. Strength to say, I can’t do this, but You can.

Surrendering (letting it go) means I am saying “God, here I am use me”. Make me the person you designed me to be, let my life bring you glory.

It’s like the Potter and the clay from Jeremiah, He wants to mold us into the fine piece of pottery he planned for us, but we have to stay on the potter’s wheel for that to happen. We have to always be allowing him to mold us and form us. When we stop letting that happen then the wheel stops and we are no longer being formed and the clay gets hard.  Keep the wheel spinning and allow God to mold us into who He destined us to be by staying surrendered to Him.

Surrendering to God means I am cooperating with Him. I am sitting on the Potter’s wheel and He is molding me everyday, through each and every situation that comes my way.

Trust God from the bottom of your heart;
don’t try to figure out everything on your own.
Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go;

he’s the one who will keep you on track.

Don’t assume that you know it all.
Proverbs 3:5-7

All to Jesus I surrender; all to him I freely give;

I will ever love and trust him, in his presence daily live.

Start off right….

Begin this week being reminded of this:

Don’t worry about anything;
instead, pray about everything.
Tell God what you need,
and thank him for all he has done.
Then you will experience God’s peace,
which exceeds anything we can understand.
His peace will guard your hearts and
minds as you live in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:6, 7 (TLB)

Start this week off in worship to God who loves you unconditionally.

Thank him for what He has done.

Have faith for what he can do.

Hold tight to His peace as you watch and wait for what he will do!

Expecting God will use and bless all of us this week!
